The International Crimes Tribunal-1 yesterday granted conditional bail to a war crimes accused from Comilla, considering his poor physical condition and age.
Muhamed Shahidullah, a former Bangalee army official, allegedly worked for the Pakistan army and committed crimes in 1971 war.
As part of the conditions, has to stay in a relative's residence in Dhaka. The 75-year-old has to furnish a bail bond of Tk 2 lakh, hand over his passport to the tribunal, he and his family cannot speak to the media and cannot influence prosecution's potential witness, reads the order.
This is the fourth time a war crimes accused was granted bail.
Earlier, the tribunal fixed December 11 for charge hearing.
Meanwhile, the tribunal directed the superintendent of police in Sherpur to submit a report within December 10 about war crimes fugitive Mokhlesur Rahman Tara, 66, of Nakla in Sherpur.
