Dinajpur achieved a clean sweep in the boxing event of Rangpur's divisional phase of the Bangladesh Youth Games, winning all eight gold medals at the Boro Maidan in Dinjapur yesterday.
Reza, Jahangir, Parvez and Sabbir won gold in their weight categories of boys' events while Brishti, Beauty Akter, Munni and Minakkhi bagged gold in their weight categories of girls' events to qualify for the final phase of the games to be held in Dhaka.
Like Dinajpur, hosts Khulna dominated in the boys' boxing events by winning four out of six golds while Narail dominated the girls' events by bagging five out of seven golds decided yesterday.
Narail also shone in weightlifting with two golds but Bagerhat stole the show in weightlifting in Khulna division by winning four golds.
In the Rangpur divisional phase, the hosts won both titles in boys' and girls' singles as well as boys' doubles at the Rangpur Gymnasium.
In Chittagong divisional phase, the hosts made a clean sweep in badminton.
In Sylhet divisional phase, Saifur Rahman of Habiganj became the fastest sprinter by winning the 100m sprint while Sumiya Akter Rizu of Sylhet emerged as the fastest girl by winning both the 100m and 200m sprints.
