Workers Party for polls under incumbent govt

Workers Party of Bangladesh, a ruling ally of the Awami League, today demanded holding the next parliamentary election under the incumbent government.

The party suggested that three ministries -- home, LGRD and public administration -- should be put under the jurisdiction of the Elelction Commission during the polls.

The party made the demands in a dialogue with the EC from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka. Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda headed the talks.

The EC began talks with the political parties on August 24 to hold a free, fair and inclusive election.
