Three Indians among 9 arrested

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) yesterday detained nine people, including three Indian nationals, while they were entering the county thought Gatipara border under Benapole Port Police Station.

The six Bangladeshi nationals, including three men, two women and a child, hailed from different villages in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat.

However, the identity of the Indian nationals could not be known till filing of this report as of 5:30pm.

Shahidul Islam, company commander of BGB 49 Battalion in Benapole, said a team of the border guards, acting on a tip-off, raided the area in the morning and arrested the nine.

The detained Bangladeshis went to New Delhi in search of better jobs there, Shahidul said.

BGB handed over the arrestees to the Benapole Port Police.
