Four policemen, including two sub-inspectors, have been sued on charge of beating a man to death in Joypurhat's Kalai upazila on Monday.
The accused are sub-inspectors Md Asaduzzaman and Rafiqul Islam and constables Selim Reza and Rashedul Islam of Kalai Police Station.
Kazem Uddin, father of victim Md Saidur Rahman, filed the case with Senior Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court in the district yesterday, said Public Prosecutor Nripendranath Mandal.
Earlier, police department suspended the four for their alleged involvement in the incident.
Meanwhile, police department and deputy commissioner's office in Joypurhat formed two separate probe bodies to investigate the incident, which led a man to death during a raid at Harunza village in Kalai. The committees were asked to submit report within seven working days.
Additional District Magistrate Abdullah Hel Baki of Joypurhat is head of the three-member team formed by Joypurhat DC's office.
Another probe committee is led by Additional Superintendent of Police Belayet Hossain, said DC Mozammel Haque.
The victim's father Kazem alleged that he went to Kalai PS to file a case on Tuesday but the law enforcers refused to file any case against police.
Early Monday, a team of Kalai Police Station allegedly beat Saidur Rahman to death during a raid at Harunza village.
Family members alleged that police beat Saidur when he protested assault on females there.
Police also fired rubber bullets and tear gas shells as the death triggered a wave of protest there.
