Seven BNP men held in Narayanganj

Police detained seven BNP men as they brought out a procession from Gonobidya Niketon at Narayanganj yesterday.

Detainees Zia, Linkon, Shaheen Ahmed, Kanchon, Raju Ahmed, and Moshiur Rahman Shuvo are followers of former president of district Jatiyotabadi Chhatra Dal Zakir Khan.

Sub Inspector of Narayanganj Model Police Station Shafiqul Islam said, “We arrested them for bringing out the procession without permission and for violating public interests.”

Some BNP leaders said they organised a discussion, instead of staging a rally, under the banner of “BNP and its front organisations” at their party office in Narayanganj city, marking the 10th anniversary of release of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail. The activists were marching towards the venue, they said.
