Today is the 38th death anniversary of Mukundalal Sarker, a prominent leader of anti-British movement and a war veteran of 1971.
Mukundalal was born in 1909 at Dharmaryer Bari village in Muksedpur upazila of Gopalganj. He was detained several times for his role against the British rule.
Mukundalal was imprisoned during Pakistan rule in 1965. He was very close to Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq, Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He established several colleges, high schools and primary schools in Gopalganj and Khulna.
A special prayer will be offered and a discussion will be held at Dhanmondi residence of his younger son journalist Ajit Kumar Sarkar in the evening.
