She had no home immediately after her birth as she was dumped beside a road.
Though her near ones did not want her in their midst, at least 13 families are now willing to give her a home.
The baby girl was rescued from the roadside in the capital's Khilgaon on October 2. She is now under treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
“Twelve to thirteen families have shown interest in adopting the baby girl,” Moshiure Rahman, officer-in-charge of Khilgaon Police Station, told The Daily Star.
Once the baby recovers, they will forward the applications to court, he said.
Meanwhile, the abandoned baby girl is slowly regaining her health.
“She is still not fully recovered,” said Prof Manisha Banerjee, in-charge of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of DMCH.
