The prevailing gas crisis in Dhaka city will persist for three or four days, State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid said today.
He stressed on using LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinders in the future and encouraged all to do the same.
“70pc of the residential sector will be brought under such system,” the state minister said while talking to the reporters after addressing a seminar at Mokarram Bhaban auditorium of the Dhaka University.
The gas lines are being repaired in different residential areas, Nasrul Hamid said adding that he hoped the crisis would recede after three or four days.
“At present the industrial sector is more important to the government than the residential sector and our target is to supply gas to the industrial sector,” the state minister added.
For the past few days the gas crisis grew worse in many areas of the capital including Mirpur, Pallabi, Shukrabad, Indira Road, Gendaria, Jatrabari, Mirhajirbagh, West Rampura, Rajabazar, Moghbazar, Tejkunipara, Bashundhara Residential Area, Kazipara, Kalabagan North Circular Road, Uttara and Jafrabad.
