Customs officials seized 40 gold bars, weighing 4.6 kilogrammes, from a flight of US-Bangla Airlines at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka this morning.
A preventive team of Dhaka Customs House carried out a search at flight 'BS322' and recovered two bundles of gold bars in an abandoned condition, says a press release.
The flight coming from Muscat landed at the airport around 7:00 am, the release said.
Wrapped up with scotch tape, the two bundles were found hidden under the foam cushion of two passenger seats.
The market value of the seized gold is worth Tk 2.32 crore, the release added.
