25.5 lakh Yaba tablets seized

Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) seized 25.50 lakh pieces of contraband Yaba tablets since January this year, in separate raids in coastal areas of the country.

In the last two and a half months, the pills were seized from the coastal areas including Saint Martin, Teknaf and Shahporir Dwip, said a BCG press release yesterday.

Quoting the Director General of BCG Rear Admiral Aurangzeb Chowdhury, the press release said that BCG will continue the raids to control the narcotics and prevent its smuggling into the country.

He also stressed the need for raising social awareness among the masses against trafficking Yaba and its bad effects in the society.
