Joy Bangla Concert on March 7

Joy Bangla Concert, the annual rock music initiative of Young Bangla, is set to return this year at the capital's Army Stadium on March 7, marking the anniversary of the historic speech by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman that sparked our War of Liberation in 1971.

Leading rock bands Artcell, Cryptic Fate, Nemesis, Arbovirus, Shunno, Lalon, Chirkutt and Powersurge will take the stage this year for the concert, which music lovers can attend free of cost. Online registration for the concert began yesterday on

This year's concert will celebrate the prestigious recognition of Bangabandhu's March 7 speech by UNESCO.

Aside from their own songs, each year at the concert the bands perform one song each from the Shadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, the radio station that kept up the morale of the Freedom Fighters and the countrymen during the Liberation War.

This year for the first time, the main concert will be preceded by a two-concert road show. Bands Nemesis and Mechanix will play a concert today at the AMA Muhith Sports Complex in Sylhet today, before travelling to another concert at the Circuit House field in Khulna on March 5.
