The 76th death anniversary of Tagore was observed at Sangskritik Biplobi Sangha (SABIS) auditorium in Manikganj town recently.
Marking the occasion, SABIS organised a discussion and cultural programme.
Local singers Sabrina Momotaz Momo, Nasrin Ahammed, Mousumy Mandal, Chandana Nandi, Sabita Majumder, Emily Parvin, Kajol Pal and Shikha Poddar rendered songs.
Earlier, a discussion on the life and work of Tagore was held. Shahidul Islam Faruk, president of SABIS, presided over the discussion where cultural personalities addressed.
The speakers said that he poet established his creative credentials both in Bangladesh and the world by winning the Nobel Prize.
The secular philosophy of the poet and his sensitivity to marginalised people is an asset to Bengali Literature, said the speakers adding that there was a profound touch of then 'Purbo Bangla' in many of his writings'.
They also emphasised the need to spread cultural activities at all educational levels to make for a creative nation.
